As of January 1, 2026, The West End Community Foundation, Inc. has implemented updated rental rates for spaces within the Community Family Life and Recreation Center at Lyon Park. This adjustment reflects increased operational costs and helps us continue providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all who use our facilities.
We value your continued partnership and understanding as we make these changes to sustain our programs and community resources.

Please note that the application fee has increased to $25, and the deposit has remained the same at $200.
STEPS TO RENTING AT OUR FACILITY
Do you need a room for your next business meeting or social event?
The Community Family Life & Recreation Center at Lyon Park has the space you need for a very reasonable price.
Groups rent our rooms for birthday parties, wedding receptions, corporate meetings, neighborhood gatherings, and more.
We’re located at the intersection of Kent St. and Halley St. in Durham’s West End, in a historic, beautifully renovated facility that serves the local community. We’re just blocks from the Lakewood Shopping Center, Duke University, and downtown Durham.
We offer great space, service, and prices- everything from small meeting rooms to a large auditorium.
Step 1:
Check for availability via the WECF Public Calendar.
Step 2:
Fill out the rental application and wait for your approval email from our team. Once you are approved, please pay the $225 fee (nonrefundable application + refundable security deposit). After the fee is paid, you will be sent a quote detailing all fees associated with your rental.
Step 3:
Schedule an in-person appointment with Melissa Bradley, Office & Event Coordinator, for a walkthrough of the venue within five days of submitting your application. During this visit, you will review and sign the rental contract and discuss payment options.
Step 4:
Fill out a diagram of how you envision your event. Diagrams are due 15 days before your event.
Step 5:
Expect a reminder call from our team! If you do not receive a call, please check in with us so we can ensure all of your needs are met before your event.

PLEASE NOTE: Cancellation or failure to pay less than thirty (30) days before your event date will result in the forfeiture of half of the rental deposit of $100.00. Cancellation or failure to pay less than fifteen (15) days before your event date will result in forfeiture of ALL fees paid.
